๐ผ Purpose:
- Ensure married female employees are aware of their maternity leave entitlements.
- Support work-life balance while complying with UAE labor laws.
- Maintain transparency on leave eligibility and usage.
โ Eligibility:
- Applies after completing 6 months of pregnancy, even if the child is born dead or dies after birth.
๐ Leave Details:
- 60 days(per UAE law).
- Start Date: Any time from the last day of the month before the expected delivery month, based on a doctorโs certificate.

Eligible Salary Breakdown:
โ First 45 days: Full pay
๐ก Next 15 days: Half pay -
Additional Unpaid Leave:
- Up to 45 days (continuous or intermittent)
- Eligibility: Only if the mother or child is sick due to pregnancy/childbirth.
- Requires a medical certificate from an approved medical entity
ย ๐ถ Special Cases โ Sick Child or Child of Determination:
- Additional 30 days with full pay after maternity leave.
- Plus 30 days without pay (optional).
- Eligibility: Requires a medical report stating the childโs condition and need for care.
๐ How to Apply:
- Apply in OASYS: Submit maternity leave request in OASYS.
- Mandatory: Attach a medical certificate/ doctors approval.
ย ๐ผ Breastfeeding Breaks (After Return):
- Time Period: For 6 months after delivery.
- Mothers are entitled to 1 or 2 hours of break per day, up to 1 hour total.

- Maternity leave is separate from annual or sick leave.
- Maternity leave cannot be used to work for another employer. Violations may result in salary recovery or loss of pay.
- It is illegal to terminate an employee or issue termination notice due to pregnancy or maternity leave.
